Pastor, Alleged Accomplice Arrested Over Suspected Interstate Car Theft in Abuja
A pastor identified as Edwin Nwabueze and another man, Sadiq Jamiu, have been arrested by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command over alleged involvement in interstate vehicle theft.
The arrests followed an investigation into the reported theft of a Toyota Camry at UTC Plaza in the Garki District of Abuja, according to the police.
Police Trace Suspect After Vehicle Theft Report
The FCT Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, disclosed the arrests in a statement issued to journalists on Friday, October 30, 2026.
Adeh said police operatives arrested Nwabueze at his residence after what she described as sustained and expanded investigations into the incident.
The suspect reportedly led officers to another location, where Jamiu was also arrested over alleged involvement in the case.
Suspect Identified as Pastor in Benue State
According to the police, Nwabueze is originally from Oji River in Enugu State but resides in Benue State.
Adeh said he identified himself as a pastor with Salvation Power Bible Ministry, located in the North Bank area of Benue State.
The police spokesperson further stated that preliminary investigations had linked Nwabueze to previous arrests by the Benue State Police Command in connection with vehicle theft cases.
Police Suspect Interstate Vehicle Theft Network
The command said its investigations indicated that the two arrested men were allegedly members of a vehicle theft syndicate operating across different states.
According to the police, the group is suspected of stealing and selling vehicles in various parts of the country.
The command added that investigations were continuing to determine the full extent of the alleged operation and identify other suspected members who remain at large.
Suspects Remain in Police Custody
The police confirmed that both men were in custody and would be charged in court after investigations were concluded.
Authorities have not announced the final outcome of the investigation or any court determination in the case.
The allegations against the suspects remain unproven, and their guilt can only be established through due legal process.
