Samuel Chukwueze Undergoes Successful Surgery After Hip Injury

Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze has undergone successful surgery to repair a ruptured tendon in his left hip.

His Italian club, AC Milan, confirmed the operation in an official statement on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

The surgery took place in London. Professor Ernest Schilders performed the procedure, with AC Milan doctor Stefano Mazzoni in attendance.

According to the club, the operation was successful.

Chukwueze Begins Road to Recovery

Chukwueze is expected to return to Italy to begin his rehabilitation.

The 27-year-old suffered a rupture of the tendon in his tensor fasciae latae muscle, located around the left hip.

Daily Post reports that the winger is expected to remain out until the end of the year.

However, AC Milan’s official statement confirmed the successful operation and the start of his rehabilitation without announcing a specific return date.

Super Eagles to Miss Chukwueze Against Tanzania

The injury is also a setback for Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

Chukwueze is expected to miss the country’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Tanzania’s Taifa Stars.

His absence will leave Nigeria without one of its attacking options for the two fixtures.

The winger reportedly picked up the injury in the build-up to AC Milan’s UEFA Europa League clash against Bournemouth last month.

For now, Chukwueze will focus on his recovery as he works towards returning to action.

His rehabilitation will determine when he can resume training and return to competitive football.
